How Backpack uses email access
When you choose to connect your Gmail or Outlook account, Backpack requests read-only access to scan your inbox for document attachments like boarding passes, insurance policies, receipts, and contracts.
Backpack only downloads attachments you explicitly select. It does not read, store, or process the body of your emails. Your email credentials are never seen by Backpack — authentication is handled entirely by Google or Microsoft through their secure OAuth flows.
All downloaded documents are stored locally on your device and never uploaded to any server. You can disconnect your email at any time in Settings.
Privacy by design
Everything stays on your device. Backpack has no servers, no accounts, and no cloud storage. All AI processing runs on-device using Apple Intelligence. No personal data is collected, stored, or transmitted.
