Backpack: AI Document Vault

Acceptance of terms

By downloading, installing, or using Backpack ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the App.

Description of service

Backpack is a privacy-first document vault for iPhone. It allows you to store, organise, and search your personal documents locally on your device using on-device AI. Backpack optionally connects to your email (Gmail or Outlook) with read-only access to help you find document attachments.

Use of the App

You agree to use the App only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these terms. You are responsible for all content you add to the App and for ensuring you have the right to store any documents you import.

Email integration

If you choose to connect your Gmail or Outlook account, you grant Backpack read-only access to your inbox via OAuth authentication provided by Google or Microsoft. Backpack uses this access solely to identify and download document attachments that you explicitly select. Backpack does not read, store, or process the body of your emails. You can disconnect your email account at any time in Settings.

Intellectual property

The App and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by Usman Khan and are protected by applicable copyright and other intellectual property laws. Your documents remain yours — Backpack claims no ownership or rights over any content you store in the App.

In-app purchases

Backpack Pro is available as a one-time in-app purchase through the Apple App Store. All purchases are processed by Apple and are subject to Apple's terms and conditions. Refunds are handled by Apple in accordance with their refund policy.

Privacy

Your privacy is important to us. Please refer to our Privacy Policy for information about how the App handles your data. In summary, all your data is stored locally on your device, and we do not collect any personal information.

Disclaimer of warranties

The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. Document classification, text recognition, and AI-powered features are provided on a best-effort basis and may not always be accurate.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Usman Khan shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, documents, or content arising from your use of the App. Since all data is stored locally on your device, you are responsible for maintaining backups of your important documents.

Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. The updated version will be posted here with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

Governing law

These terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales, without regard to conflict of law provisions.
